Inspection → quote
Inspect Sam's Corolla, share the report so he can see the findings for himself, and turn the defects into a priced quote.
During the 180,000 km service, the technician runs a health check and finds worn front brake pads and a weeping rear shock absorber. Here is how that becomes work Sam agrees to.
You need: at least one inspection template, Inspections → Create, and Quotes → Create.
- 1Technician inspects
- 2Report shared with Sam
- 3Sam asks for a quoteoptional
- 4Quote created from the inspection
- 5Quote sent
Part 1 — Inspect (technician)
Start the inspection
On a tablet or phone, start a new inspection for the Corolla using your service health-check template.
Grade as you go
Work through each section. For the front pads, record the Reading (for example 2 mm), grade it Fail, describe it — Front pads at 2 mm, replace — and add a photo. For the rear shock, grade Attention with a note and a short video.
Complete it
Select Complete. The result reads Fail — major defects.
Part 2 — Let Sam see it (service advisor)
Share the report
On the inspection, select Share and send the link to Sam by SMS. He sees every check, your notes and the photos on his phone.
Sam may ask for a quote himself
On the report, Sam can select Request a Quote, tick the items he wants priced and add a message. You are told in the bell and on the dashboard's Quote Requests card, and the inspection shows how many items he asked about.
Part 3 — Quote the work
Create the quote from the inspection
On the inspection, select Create quote. The quote is linked to the inspection and to Sam's car.
Price it
Add the pads and rotors from inventory and the labour to fit them. Add the rear shock absorbers as a separate set of lines and mark them excluded if you want Sam to see the price without it counting in the total yet.
Send it
Share the quote with Sam by SMS, or Email it. → continue with Quote → approval → work order.
Tips
- Photos sell work. A clear photo of a 2 mm pad next to a new one does more than any description.
- Use Attention for items to watch, so Sam knows they are not urgent.
- The inspection records the quote it raised, so anyone opening it later can see what happened.
