Inspections
Digital checklists your technicians work through on a phone or tablet, with grades, measurements, notes and photos that customers can see.
An inspection is a checklist completed against a vehicle. Each check gets a grade, and can carry a measurement, a note and photos. When it is done, you can share the report with the customer and turn the defects into a quote or a job.
When to use it
- A multi-point health check with every service.
- A pre-purchase inspection.
- Checking a car before quoting for repairs.
- Any repeatable check where you want the same items looked at every time.
Before you start
- Inspections → Create permission.
- At least one inspection template. WRMS Pro comes with ready-made checklists; if they have all been removed, the New inspection dialog explains that there are no templates and points you to create or restore one.
- The vehicle must be in WRMS Pro.
Grading scales
Each template uses one of two scales.

Australian workshops
The ready-made regulatory checklists in WRMS Pro follow the European periodic inspection rules (Directive 2014/45/EU). They are not Australian roadworthy or safety certificate checklists. For Australian work, build your own template on the Pass / attention / fail scale, or adapt a workshop checklist, and check it against your state's requirements.
Run an inspection
Start it
Select New inspection (or Quick Add → Inspection), choose the vehicle and a template. The template marked Default template is pre-selected.
Grade each check
Work through the sections. For each check, choose a grade. Depending on the check you may also need to:
- enter a Reading (for example brake pad thickness or tread depth) — the allowed limit is shown;
- choose an Answer from a list;
- Describe the defect — notes are required before a defect grade is saved;
- add a photo or video. Some checks require a photo of any defect.
Common defect wording is suggested as you type, drawn from your workshop's history.
Save as you go
The inspection saves as you work. The header shows progress, such as 12 of 40 checks graded.
Complete it
Select Complete. WRMS Pro tells you if mandatory checks are outstanding or checks are ungraded, and warns if any dangerous defect was recorded. Once completed, the checks are locked and the result is set.
Results
The overall result is worked out from the grades:

After the inspection

| Share | Creates a link the customer can open without logging in. They see grades, notes and photos, and can Request a Quote for selected items. See Share links. |
| Create quote | Starts a quote linked to the inspection. Available once a defect is recorded. |
| Create work order | Starts a job linked to the inspection. |
| Download certificate | A PDF report of the inspection. |
| Reopen | Unlocks the checks. If the report was shared, the customer's link shows the changes as you make them. |

Certificate details
For formal inspections you can record the Inspector, Vehicle category, a Report reference, the Place of test (defaults to your workshop address) and Next test due (6 months to 4 years ahead).
Inspection templates
Open Manage templates from the inspections page.
- Browse checklists to add a ready-made template. It is copied into your workshop, so you can change it freely.
- New template to build your own: add sections and checks, choose how each check is recorded (grade, measurement with unit and limits, choice list), mark checks as required or photo-required, and add guidance for the technician.
- Duplicate, Export…, Import and Delete templates. Deleting a template does not change inspections already done with it.
